The National Association of Social Workers (NASW) has announced updates to its Code of Ethics to now include the “importance of professional self-care.” They have also revised the Cultural Competence standard. These are important changes, and we hope the other national organizations for caring professionals follow suit.
“The NASW Code of Ethics is a living document that responds to the needs of the profession which are influenced by our everchanging world. This 90-minute weenbinar will examine recent updates to the NASW Code of Ethics. The 2021 updates include language that addresses the importance of professional self-care, as well as revisions to the Cultural Competence standard.”
The NASW has scheduled a 1.5 training on these changes. The training quickly sold out, but they will be recording the event an offering self-study version. You can find out more here https://naswinstitute.inreachce.com/Details/Information/757e97f0-7b33-4dc7-acb1-58776a2ecf66.
