Cascadia Training Honors Black History Month 2023 by Donating almost $5,000 to Two Organizations to Support the Mental Health and Well-Being of Black and/or BIPOC individuals, therapists, and organizations

As announced back in February, Cascadia committed to donating 10% of ALL workshop registration sales through the end of February to two incredible organizations: Atlantic Street Center and Mental Health Liberation which supports Inclusive Therapists to honor Black History Month and support the health and wellness of the Black community, including both clients/patients and mental health and social work providers and practitioners who identify as Black and/or BIPOC.

Thanks to all of you who registered for workshops during the month of February, we raised ALMOST $5,000 to donate!!!

We donated to two incredible organizations:

  • $2,400 (%5 of all February 2023 sales) was donated to Seattle-based Atlantic Street Center

Atlantic Street Center is a non-profit social service agency whose mission is to help families and communities raise healthy, successful children and youth through direct services and advocacy for social justice and equity. Atlantic Street achieves their mission by providing educational, family support, and behavioral health counseling services for children, youth, and their families. They primarily serve no- and low-income African American families and other families of color who reside in the Greater Seattle area, primarily South King County and North Pierce County. Bonus Fun Fact: Many of Atlantic Street’s fantastic mental health and social work professionals frequently attend Cascadia’s workshops!

  • $2,400 (%5 of all February 2023 sales) was donated to Portland-based but nationally active Mental Health Liberation

Mental Health Liberation, whose mission is to liberate, heal, and thrive by bridging Black, Indigenous, and People of Color (BIPOC) with quality therapy, empowering Clinicians of Color, dismantling systemic inequity, and reclaiming healing for melanated, marginalized, and displaced Peoples. Mental Health Liberation is the sibling non-profit who handles donations and funding of Inclusive Therapists, a mental health liberation movement creating change through decolonial education, collective care, and activism. They provide a safer, simpler way to find a culturally responsive, LGBTQ+ affirming, social justice-oriented therapists. Inclusive Therapists centers the needs of Black, Indigenous, and People of Color (BIPOC) and 2SLGBTQIA+ intersections (QTBIPOC), while amplifying the voices and expressions of Neurodivergent and Disabled Communities of Color.

Last year, as many of you know, we donated over $2,000 to two outstanding organizations, Deconstructing the Mental Health System (DMHS) and the Therapy Fund Foundation, with our 2022 Black History Month Cascadia Cares campaign.

We MORE THAN DOUBLED WHAT WE RAISED LAST YEAR – Thanks to ALL OF YOU, amazing Cascadia Family and customers!

With gratitude and appreciation for your support,

Brian, Sally, Melody, Bethanie, Bob, and the Entire Cascadia Crew
