Continuing Education Workshop Description:
Codependency shows up in the therapy room more than you think!
This continuing education workshop will provide you with a definition of codependency, help you identify it in clients, and help you conceptualize treatment of codependent patterns that contribute to clientsโ depression, anxiety, and relationship distress.
Though not a DSM diagnosis, understanding the concept of codependency can inform how we help our clients change their lives from needing to please and be in control (i.e., by acquiescing or over-performing) to forging authentic relationships based on clear, honest interaction.
Continuing Education Workshop Objectives:
At the end of the class, attendees will:
1.ย ย ย Have a working definition of codependency
2.ย ย ย Know how to recognize codependency in clients
3.ย ย ย Know how to compassionately and clearly introduce the concept of codependency to clients
4.ย ย ย Know how to conceptualize treatment
5.ย ย ย Have resources that can help clients heal
