Using Psychodrama to Creatively Work with Individuals, Couples & Groups
September 13 @ 9:00 am – 4:30 pm
This course will teach you psychodrama techniques to use with individuals, couples, and groups. Their use will enhance your creativity and add new tools to your therapeutic skills.
The teaching on psychodrama will be done by lecture and experiential methods. We will start by getting to know each other in dyads and in larger group sharing. The purpose of the warm- ups are to create greater group cohesion and build trust. We will then do a ritual to confirm each person holding confidential whatever they hear in the training.
You will learn about the history, theory and applications of psychodrama and the social science called sociometry. This is followed by teaching several psychodramatic techniques that can be used with individuals, couples or in group therapy. The teaching is then put into action and practiced by the group.
We will find volunteers who wants to explore a personal relationship or internal struggle in a psychodrama. I will direct their drama and use group members to play roles as needed. I will do “spot teaching” to clarify the techniques being used. After the drama we will do the third part of a psychodrama which is called sharing. This is where each person shares how they identified with the work piece and how it relates to their own lives. We will end the workshop with questions and group discussion of what was learned this day.
Attendees will come away with the following:
