Dr. Brenda Butterfield has over 35 years of experience in mental health, substance abuse, and education. She taught psychology at the University of Minnesota Duluth for nearly 10 years and is professionally trained in social work, psychology, education, and mindfulness. In addition to being a psychotherapist, Brenda is a Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction teacher and a Certified Forest Therapy Guide.
Answering an “unexpected call from beyond,” in March 2020 she moved from Redmond, WA to Olympia and founded The ONE Center. ONE is a nature-based health and wellness center created to help inspire healing of oneself, others, communities and the Earth. Designed specifically as a refuge and sanctuary for health care providers, ONE also offers care to the larger community as well.
Participants come to ONE from all over Washington and out of state to connect, rest, learn new skills, increase health and well-being, and develop inner peace.
Brenda sees her role as a facilitator of healing and transformation. Under her guidance, many have learned to “quiet the din to go within,” hear their inner wisdom, and become their True Essential-Self.
Her programs draw on her commitment to authentic, compassionate care and on her therapeutic specialties: mindfulness therapy, mindfulness-based stress reduction (MBSR), cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), spirituality, and nature-based therapy.
