Schemas—deeply ingrained patterns of thought, emotion, and behavior—shape how clients interpret themselves, others, and the world. This training introduces psychotherapists to the foundational concepts of schema therapy, including identifying early maladaptive schemas, schema modes, and their influence on emotional and relational difficulties. Participants will explore how schemas develop, how they show up in the therapy room, and how understanding them can enhance assessment and intervention.
Attendees will learn strategies to help clients recognize and work with their schemas, shift maladaptive patterns, and develop healthier coping mechanisms.
Therapists will leave with tools to integrate schema-focused approaches into everyday practice,
supporting deeper insight, emotional regulation, and adaptive change.
Workshop Objectives:
- Develop an understanding of the core concepts of schema therapy, including early maladaptive schemas and schema modes.
- Learn strategies to help clients identify and work with schemas in therapy sessions.
- Identify interventions to support clients in shifting maladaptive patterns and developing healthier coping modes.
