Narrative therapy emphasizes the power of stories in shaping how clients understand themselves, their problems, and their possibilities.
This training introduces psychotherapists to the foundational concepts of narrative practice, including how language, culture, and power influence identity and meaning-making. Participants will explore how to listen for problem-saturated stories, highlight client strengths, and support the co-creation of alternative, empowering narratives.
Through discussion and experiential exercises, attendees will learn how to integrate narrative techniques into everyday clinical work. Therapists will leave with practical tools to help clients externalize problems, uncover hidden skills and values, and open pathways toward resilience and transformation.
Workshop Objectives:
- Develop a foundational understanding of narrative therapy principles, including the role of language and meaning-making.
- Learn practical techniques for externalizing problems, asking narrative questions, and highlighting client strengths.
- Identify ways to apply narrative therapy strategies in everyday clinical practice to support client empowerment and alternative story development.
