This seminar is designed to examine ethical codes and their application in practice. Participant interaction is strongly encouraged, as ethical codes often prompt deeper questions of “what if?” and gray-area interpretations. As mental health professionals, we are acutely aware of the necessity to maintain ethical standards. Many clinicians have not read the standards recently and risk making subtle clinical judgment errors. Open discussion, critical analysis, and interaction are encouraged in this seminar.
Workshop Objectives:
- Participants will be able to discern rationalizations that impede ethical practice
- Participants will understand the difference between ethical and legal practice issues
- Participants will understand the concept of boundary crossings vs. ethical violations
- Participants will be able to apply ethical decision-making steps.
