How do culture and ethics intersect? This continuing education workshop will provide an overview of fundamental cultural concepts relevant to clinical practice. This workshop meets continuing education credit hour requirements for law & ethics CEs, health equity CEs in Washington State, or cultural competence CEs in Oregon and Washington State.
Clinicians who value the cultural aspects of their clients demonstrate acceptance and ethical practice.
Ethical considerations related to culture will be explored, and case studies will illuminate the possible dilemmas that practitioners may encounter. Learners will be encouraged to explore their own practices for resolving ethical dilemmas involving culture. Attendees will all receive valuable recommendations and frameworks for appropriately addressing culturally based ethical dilemmas in a thorough, sensitive, and inclusive manner.
OBJECTIVES:
- Describe at least three cultural concepts relevant to clinical practice.
- Identify two ethical frameworks for resolving dilemmas involving culture.
- Evaluate culturally-based ethical dilemmas to determine the best course of action.
