Description:

How do we help our clients move from worried to well? This workshop will present learners with a review of the diagnostic formulation of assessment and key domains of anxiety assessment. Specific anxiety-based screening and assessment measures will be shared as resources. Treatment approaches based on evidence-based research will be included. After reviewing anxiety assessment, the focus will shift to treatment approaches. The vicious cycle of anxiety will be reviewed, and strategies such as mindfulness and cognitive restructuring will be examined. Core CBT, DBT, and ACT treatment targets and interventions will demonstrate the power of cognitive therapy to alleviate anxiety symptoms and distress. Learners will identify specific anxiety-based interventions by viewing videos on developing a panic formulation, worry postponement, and exposure therapy. Additional concrete strategies such as distress tolerance, urge surfing, and self-compassion will provide clinicians like you with eclectic and empirically validated treatment approaches to move your clients from worried to well.
