Attachment shapes how individuals relate to themselves and others, influencing relationships, emotional regulation, and patterns of coping across the lifespan. This continuing education workshop introduces psychotherapists to the foundational concepts of attachment theory, including secure, anxious, avoidant, and disorganized attachment styles, and how these patterns manifest in adult relationships and clinical work.

Participants will explore the ways attachment histories inform behavior, relational expectations, and therapeutic challenges.

Attendees will learn how to identify attachment patterns in clients, understand their impact on therapy, and apply attachment-informed interventions to support relational and emotional growth. Therapists will leave with tools to enhance therapeutic alliance, foster client security, and guide clients toward healthier relational functioning.

Workshop Objectives:

  • Develop a foundational understanding of attachment theory, including attachment styles and their developmental origins.
  • Learn strategies to recognize attachment patterns in clients and understand their impact on relationships and therapy.
  • Identify interventions to support secure attachment, emotional regulation, and relational growth in clients.
