Trauma is not just an event—it’s a process that affects how individuals view themselves, others, and the world around them. In this introductory training, you will gain a comprehensive understanding of trauma-informed care (TIC), focusing on ethical considerations and best practices for supporting clients who have experienced trauma. We will explore the key principles of TIC, including safety, trust, empowerment, and collaboration, while learning how to create a therapeutic environment that fosters healing and resilience. We will also examine the importance of cultural competence as a part of trauma-informed best practices with clients. Through case discussions, practical exercises, and real-world examples, you will leave with effective tools for integrating trauma-informed approaches into your clinical work, promoting a safe and supportive space for clients to process and heal.
OBJECTIVES:
- Develop a foundational understanding of trauma-informed care principles and their application in clinical practice.
- Learn ethical considerations for working with trauma survivors, including boundaries, cultural sensitivity, and safety, as well as cultural competence.
- Identify signs of trauma and its impact on mental health, relationships, and coping strategies in clients.
