You will receive your Zoom link/invitation the week of the workshop.\nContinuing Education Credit Hours (NBCC and NASW-WA Approved): 12 CEs – all count as Health Equity or Cultural Competence; 3 count as Law & Ethics | $499.00 ***see below for payment options\nCONTINUING EDUCATION WORKSHOP SERIES DESCRIPTION:\nIf you are in the mental health field and have not had a neurodivergent (ND) client\, you will. \nThis can be daunting to clinicians working within the medical model for several reasons. One may not know if a client is neurodivergent (ND). As ND people often do not see themselves as needing to be “fixed\,” they may not feel certain treatment approaches and/or vocabulary apply to them – and yet they are in our offices seeking help. Many self-diagnose\, and there are as many presentations of neurodivergence as there are neurodivergent people. How do we conceptualize working with this population? \nOne approach is to de-center the neurotypical classification of behavior as the primary issue and focus treatment instead on the identification and remediation of associated trauma. Sadly\, trauma and Neurodivergence often go together\, and one of the primary results of this is masking. \nMasking is the compensatory strategy many ND people develop to manage social expectations. This skill initially allows them to “fit in” better. Over the long term\, though\, the masking takes a huge toll and most often results in extreme mental and emotional fatigue\, chronic and extreme emotional dysregulation\, exacerbated learning difficulties\, and frightening and isolating trauma responses. \nIn this in-depth continuing education certificate series\, the presenter will discuss what it means to be non-pathologizing in more depth\, demonstrating the need to expand beyond the medical model. Social justice aspects of neurodivergence will be explored\, and a tool that enables a better conceptualization of self than the current “diagnosis” model will be taught and practiced. Then\, several methods to streamline addressing various neurodivergent differences will be shared and applied to case situations and in-session work groups. \nThis series is for anyone who took the survey course and wants more.  The survey course is NOT a requirement. If you’re ready to firm up your repertoire of skills working with Neurodivergent clients by learning a new tool you will find nowhere else\, then you’re in the right place! \nCONTINUING EDUCATION WORKSHOP SERIES OBJECTIVES:\n\nDescribe what it means to be “Non-pathologizing\,” including the benefit of the beyond-medical approach\, the power of resonance\, and the strength of the “pivot” in helping clients reach their fullest potential\nDescribe the specific neurodivergent-trauma that impedes agency and compounds anxiety\, depression\, shame\, and trauma responses\nExplain how certain social justice issues apply and can be addressed both within the medical model and in a non-pathologizing way.\nList and describe the ten domains of Neurodivergence\nCreate a self-map using the 10-Domain tool\nIdentify areas and degrees of masking and create treatment plans to address them\, determining approaches of accommodation versus adaptation\nExplore the concept of agency\, including how to build agency in clients\, in order to enhance self-efficacy and promote positive outcomes\nUse a 3-step Framework approach to addressing neurodivergence that will help clients reduce frustration and clarify direction in daily life\nApply new learning to case studies and real-time practice\n\n***PAYMENT OPTIONS\nCascadia Training values quality continuing education that is accessible\, inclusive\, and without barriers to all. DESCRIPTION:This workshop meets the suicide assessment requirements for re-licensure.\nYouth and Adult Suicide: Recognition\, Assessment\, and Treatment of Suicidality\nPresented by: Randi Jensen\, MA\, LMHC\, CCDC\nWhen: Friday\, November 6th\, 2026 | 9:00 am – 4:30 pm Pacific Time\nWhere: Live on Zoom. You will receive your Zoom link/invitation the week of the workshop.\nContinuing Education Credit Hours: 6 CEs | $199.00\nThis workshop meets the Washington State suicide assessment requirements for re-licensure. The Washington State Department of Health has approved this 6-hour workshop for its 2022 Model List. This workshop also satisfies the continuing education requirements set by the Department of Health related to suicide assessment\, management\, and treatment.\nHistorically\, mental health treatment for suicidal individuals has involved extensive psychopharmacology\, repeated cognitive behavioral therapy\, positive psychology methods\, stress reduction exercises\, and/or deep therapy into family-of-origin issues\, all proven individually insufficient for the long-term prevention of suicide and suicidality. \nThe World Health Organization (2019) reported decreasing trends in suicide mortality in most countries across the world. Unfortunately\, the mortality of suicide showed an increasing trend in the United States. Between 2000 and 2018\, the suicide rate skyrocketed\, increasing by a whopping 35% (CDC\, 2020). Interestingly\, during the first year of the COVID-19 pandemic\, between 2020 and 2021\, there was a decrease in suicide rates. This was short-lived\, unfortunately\, as suicide rates began to increase again by 2% in 2022 (CDC\, 2022). \nWhat can we do? As clinicians\, we need to understand there are many roads to suicidality — each usually requiring individual intervention. \nThis workshop presents original concepts in the development of suicidality as an ingenious coping mechanism that develops over time. The brain’s neuroplasticity forms neural pathways that underpin the reinforcing suicidal thought pattern. Brain retraining provides the formation of new healthy neural pathways. The healing process is directed\, encouraged\, and supported through a specifically designed peer protocol based on existing evidence-based social support. \nResearch shows that the first suicide attempt is often the first time anyone intervenes. However\, it is generally not the first time the danger has been known. Loved ones just don’t know what to do. They take the suicidal individual to a hospital or professional where the treatment protocol has not changed for decades. When the suicidal individual comes home after the attempt\, family and friends don’t know how to help prevent the next one. The Jensen Suicide Peer Protocol (JSP3)\, based on evidence-based principles\, is a prescribed method for the family members and concerned others to take an active part in the recovery of their loved one. Randi has used this method for decades and has saved lives. \nOBJECTIVES:\n• Describe the extent of suicide in the general and special populations\, including children\, adolescents\, and military personnel.\n• Distinguish what suicidality is and the difference between self-harm and suicidality\n• Explain the psychobiology of suicidality and its progression\n• Articulate warning signs and symptoms using simple and effective suicide assessment tools\n• Express and practice Motivational Interviewing techniques used in counseling suicidal individuals\n• Explain a life-saving peer support protocol and how to implement it\n• Describe ethical considerations\, documentation\, and confidentiality issues. \nThe Washington State Department of Health has approved this 6-hour workshop for its 2022 Model List.
