In our welcoming circle\, we’ll begin the day by connecting\, building community\, and savoring the good company of colleagues.  We’ll take time to complete the Professional Quality of Life Scale (ProQOL) and the Professional Self-Care Assessment during the annual checkup. Bring your assessment measures from the Day 1 workshop\, or no worries if you don’t have them. Trust your inner guide to know where you’ve been and where you are now. \nThroughout the day\, we’ll spend time in community and on our own as we sit spot on the land and by the water\, resting in awareness and writing reflectively. We’ll explore new\, simple self-care practices from nature therapy and mindful self-compassion. All practices are evidence-based ways to activate the parasympathetic nervous system anytime\, anyplace. All can be shared with clients to support their health and well-being.  We’ll revisit research explaining why self-care is essential for health care providers and take a deeper dive into the ethics of practicing self-care through the collaborative Practice of Council around the campfire. We’ll discuss our own biases\, real-life challenges\, values & beliefs\, and find ways to acknowledge\, support\, and problem-solve together. \nSelf-care can be quite simple but seldom easy\, especially when caring for others.  Self-care is living mindfully.  It requires ongoing intention and attention to skill building\, giving and receiving support\, and holding oneself accountable. We hope you answer the call this season of care and come back for your Self Care Check Up at ONE. You’ll be in the good company of colleagues\, supported by the healing power of nature. \nWORKSHOP OBJECTIVES:\n\nReassess your compassion satisfaction\, burnout\, and secondary traumatic stress.\nReassess your current self-care across 5 life domains.\nExplore experientially a variety of ways to practice simple self-care\nIdentify lifestyle choices that are supporting or undermining your health and well-being.\nRevisit research correlating clinician health and well-being to treatment outcomes for clients.\nRevisit ethical implications for practicing/not practicing self-care.\nRefine your realistic action plan for improved self-care\n\nREGISTER HERE\n  \n  \n

SUMMARY:Professional Wills: Why You Need One and How to Create It
DESCRIPTION:Law & Ethics CEs!\nProfessional Wills: Why You Need One and How to Create It\nPresented by: Sandy Voit MS\, EdS\, LMHC\, CDFA\nWhen: Thursday\, October 15\, 2026\, 2025 | 10:00 am – 12:00 pm Pacific Time\nWhere: Live on Zoom. You will receive your Zoom link/invitation the week of the workshop.\nContinuing Education Credits: CEs: 2 Law & Ethics CEs | $65.00\nARE YOU IN BREACH OF YOUR PROFESSIONAL ETHICS?\nYou have spent your entire professional career securing and storing medical records and ensuring your clients’ confidentiality. What happens to these records when you retire\, become disabled\, or die? \nDid you know that even if you die\, your estate could be held responsible for malpractice complaints and legal actions brought about by your failure to anticipate your demise? \nFor psychologists\, your Code of Ethics dictates that you are expected to “make reasonable efforts to plan for facilitating services in the event that psychological services are interrupted by factors such as the psychologist’s illness\, death\, unavailability\, relocation\, or retirement…” The same ethical mandate applies to Mental Health Counselors\, Marriage and Family Therapists\, and Social Workers. \nThis workshop provides information and examples of how to prepare for such a situation – creating a Professional Will and identifying a Professional Executor to handle the legal and ethical details necessary to protect yourself and your practice. If something happens to you\, you need a similarly licensed professional (not your spouse or child) to deal with your clients/patients\, confidential records\, office leases\, obtain releases\, make referrals\, etc. In addition\, your clients/patients will likely need help in their grieving and necessary transition to another therapist. \nREGISTER HERE\n  \n

SUMMARY:Kinky Sex Ed and Poly 101
DESCRIPTION:Law & Ethics\, Health Equity\, or Cultural Competence CEs!\nKinky Sex Ed and Poly 101: A One-Day\, Two-Session Workshop\nPresented by: B Lourenco\, MA\, LMHC (she/her)\nWhen: Friday\, October 16th\, 2026| 9:00 AM – 4:00 PM Pacific Time\nWhere: Live on Zoom. You will receive your Zoom link/invitation the week of the workshop.\nContinuing Education Credit Hours: 6 Law & Ethics\, Health Equity\, or Cultural Competence CEs | Cost: $199.00 \nMorning Session: Kinky Sex Ed for Clinicians (9:00 AM – 12:00 PM\, Pacific) \nIn graduate school\, many programs offered a very limited education on human sexual development. The topics covered were largely typical\, normative experiences. This type of education leaves out so many other ways of being and leaves large gaps in our education about alternative ways of engaging with sex and relationships.  Both sessions of this one-day workshop–Kinky Sex Ed and Poly 101–are intended to help fill the gaps in clinical education and understanding. The goal is that the clinicians who attend will be more fully informed\, more inclusive in their approach\, and better able to support clients with “non-normative” sexual identities and experiences.  Kink refers to any sexual interest or behavior that is outside what is considered normative. Research indicates that many people have explored kinks at some point in their lives\, with many people having a kink as a core component of their sexual experiences. This course will identify common kink terms\, concepts\, and identities so that the clinicians who attend can better support kinky-identified clients. \nObjectives:\n\nLearn how kink is defined and connected to social constructs of normativity\nHave a basic understanding of common kink identities\nLearn basic kink terms and cultural norms\nKnow the differences between and among kinks\, fetishes\, and BDSM\nExplore how kinks develop and change over time and sexual development\nDefine healthy and ethical kink\nIdentify ethical concerns in kink culture\n\nAfternoon Session: Poly 101 for Clinicians (1:00 PM – 4:00 PM)\nIn graduate school\, many programs offered a very limited education on human sexual development\, and the topics covered were largely typical\, normative experiences. This type of education leaves out so many other ways of being and leaves large gaps in our education about alternative ways of engaging with sex and relationships. Kinky Sex Ed and Poly 101 are both intended to help fill the gaps in clinical education and understanding so that clinicians can be more informed and able to support clients with “non-normative” sexual identities and experiences. The socialization that prioritizes monogamy starts very early in Western culture\, with messages about faithfulness\, loyalty\, jealousy\, and love all being inexplicably intertwined. The reality is that–for many people–monogamy simply doesn’t work well for them. This course will explore key terms and concepts of Ethical Non-Monogamy (ENM) and how to offer support to our clients in the clinical setting. \nObjectives: \n\nLearn monogamous and non-monogamous relationship types\nExplore basic terms and concepts of ethical non-monogamy (ENM)\nIdentify the role of monogamy culture on all relationship types\nDefine the differences between envy\, jealousy\, and trauma responses when navigating ENM\nUnderstand common ethical concerns in ENM\nIdentify the benefits associated with non-monogamous relationship dynamics\n\nREGISTER HERE\n  \n

SUMMARY:Ethics of Simple Self-Care in Nature – Day 1
DESCRIPTION:Law & Ethics CEs!\nEthics of Simple Self-Care in Nature – Day 1\nPresented by: Dr. Brenda Butterfield\, EdD\, MSW\, LMHC \nWhen: Friday\, October 16\, 2026 | 9:00 AM – 4:30 PM\, Pacific Time\nWhere: Live in person at the ONE Center (7400 Gallagher Cove Road NW\, Olympia\, WA 98502)\nLodging Information: If you’d like to come the night before or stay over on Friday night after the workshop\, you can explore the lodging options provided by the ONE Center here. For questions about lodging\, please email the ONE Center at ournewexperiences@gmail.com\nContinuing Education Credit Hours: 6 Law & Ethics CEs | $199.00\nThis workshop is offered several times throughout 2026. All of the sessions are as follows:\n\n\nFriday\, April 24th\, 2026 MORE INFO >>>\n\n\nFriday\, June 19th\, 2026 MORE INFO >>>\n\n\nFriday\, August 14th\, 2026 MORE INFO >>>\n\n\nFriday\, September 11th\, 2026 MORE INFO >>>\n\n\nFriday\, October 16th\, 2026 MORE INFO >>>\n\n\nWe’re eager to welcome you to the beautiful ONE Center on the South Salish Sea for a day of simple self-care in nature. 2026 is our sixth year providing this monthly workshop to colleagues from WA\, OR\, MT\, and beyond. During this nature-based workshop\, you have full permission to slow down\, rest\, and tend to your own health and well-being WHILE earning ethics credits. \nAll codes of ethics have been revised to include the ethical imperative to practice self-care. These ethical guidelines give us permission to do just that through professional development. We’ll review ethical codes and explore research findings indicating how and why the therapist’s psychological health and well-being directly relate to treatment outcomes for clients.  Indeed\, how we show up matters. Therefore\, finding ways to practice caring for oneself is not only a personal responsibility and a gift to oneself\, but also an ethical obligation. \nThis is a unique retreat-style\, experiential workshop with invitations to practice simple self-care inspired by Japan’s shinrin-yoku. Brenda is a mindfulness-based therapist\, a certified Eco Therapist\, and a certified Forest Therapy Guide. She’s been teaching clients and colleagues how to lean into mindfulness in nature for health and well-being since founding The ONE Center in 2020. \nWith Brenda’s guidance\, we’ll walk short distances through the forest and by the sea\, sit spotting along the way while learning simple\, evidence-based self-care practices to use anytime\, anyplace.  Colleagues have come multiple times\, sharing they feel increasingly grounded and connected to their body\, mind\, and soul as the day unfolds.  This deep learning is inspiring and supports ethical work by encouraging the continued use of simple self-care practices at home and at work. When our nervous system is settled\, we are emotionally regulated and can help our clients feel more embodied\, at ease\, and connected to others\, too. \nWithout ongoing self-care\, providing mental health care can deplete and exhaust us\, leading to burnout\, compassion fatigue\, and secondary vicarious trauma. Added stress from the global polycrisis (social\, political\, racial\, financial\, environmental\, etc.) can result in feeling overwhelmed\, isolated\, and hopeless. And yet\, we must show up to provide care for so many who are suffering. If this resonates with you\, know that you are not alone.  Each summer\, we find solace in a community of colleagues\, in nature\, bearing witness and tending to the pain for healing. This is the mindful way.  We hope you come to ONE\, a sanctuary created specifically for those of us providing care to others\, for a gentle landing and a warm welcome.  We got your back… we’re here for you. \nWORKSHOP OBJECTIVES\nIn this workshop\, you will \n\nExplore experientially a variety of ways to practice simple self-care\nLearn about ethical implications for practicing self-care\nUnderstand research correlating clinician health and well-being to treatment outcomes for clients\nAssess your current overall health and well-being\nAssess your professional quality of life\nIdentify lifestyle choices that are supportive or undermine health and well-being\nDevelop a realistic action plan for improved health and well-being\n\nWhat attendees of this workshop are saying: \n“The beautiful time in nature and SLOWING DOWN! Thank you for curating a safe and nourishing environment to just BE.” \n“Where to start! I enjoyed the land! The atmosphere of acceptance and compassion. The experiential approach. The connection to ethics. The opportunities to connect with ourselves and peers. The worksheets for reflection and self-assessment. I loved everything!” \n“The beautiful and nurturing environment allowed everyone to feel safe and be vulnerable. I admire the bravery and ability of the other attendees to open up and share their experiences\, struggles\, and challenges. It helps us all feel less alone.” \n“This workshop – and the ONE Center – is truly a gift that every mental health professional should give themselves! Hands down\, this is the best continuing education workshop I’ve ever attended.” \nREGISTER HERE\n  \n
