SUMMARY:Professional Wills: Why You Need One and How to Create It
DESCRIPTION:Law & Ethics CEs!\nProfessional Wills: Why You Need One and How to Create It\nPresented by: Sandy Voit MS\, EdS\, LMHC\, CDFA\nWhen: Thursday\, October 15\, 2026\, 2025 | 10:00 am – 12:00 pm Pacific Time\nWhere: Live on Zoom. You will receive your Zoom link/invitation the week of the workshop.\nContinuing Education Credits: CEs: 2 Law & Ethics CEs | $65.00\nARE YOU IN BREACH OF YOUR PROFESSIONAL ETHICS?\nYou have spent your entire professional career securing and storing medical records and ensuring your clients’ confidentiality. What happens to these records when you retire\, become disabled\, or die? \nDid you know that even if you die\, your estate could be held responsible for malpractice complaints and legal actions brought about by your failure to anticipate your demise? \nFor psychologists\, your Code of Ethics dictates that you are expected to “make reasonable efforts to plan for facilitating services in the event that psychological services are interrupted by factors such as the psychologist’s illness\, death\, unavailability\, relocation\, or retirement…” The same ethical mandate applies to Mental Health Counselors\, Marriage and Family Therapists\, and Social Workers. \nThis workshop provides information and examples of how to prepare for such a situation – creating a Professional Will and identifying a Professional Executor to handle the legal and ethical details necessary to protect yourself and your practice. If something happens to you\, you need a similarly licensed professional (not your spouse or child) to deal with your clients/patients\, confidential records\, office leases\, obtain releases\, make referrals\, etc. In addition\, your clients/patients will likely need help in their grieving and necessary transition to another therapist. \nREGISTER HERE\n  \n

This training will provide an overview of human attachment and how both our drive for connection and our tolerance for it are established in our early years. \nWith compassion\, we’ll explore the dynamics of overreliance and discuss what codependence actually is (and\, equally important\, what it is not). We’ll also acknowledge the gold standard of interdependence and how to assist clients in developing and repairing relationships to that end. Most relevantly\, we will address treatment planning and provide practical tools to leverage therapeutic change for our clients struggling in relationships – with themselves and others. \nThis continuing education workshop is designed for practicing therapists with clients of all ages. The workshop will be conducted in a Zoom format\, and teaching modalities will include a mix of clinical discussion\, lecture with case examples and video illustrations\, as well as individual exercises. \nContinuing Education Workshop Objectives:\n\nUnderstand attachment patterns and clinical presentations of emotional dependency in friendships\, intimate relationships\, parenting\, and family systems.\nAppreciate interpersonal dependency as a healthy relational system.\nRecognize common client histories and red flags that typify codependency.\nConfront the dynamics of overreliance – vulnerability\, validation\, and interpersonal control.\nConsider establishing healthy boundaries as a key strategy for maintaining identity and addressing unhealthy boundary profiles\, including nonexistent\, weak or poorly expressed\, and rigid boundaries.\nUnderline professional boundaries in our role as therapists with a clinical population that may be struggling in this area.\nProvide strategies for clients to navigate and repair inevitable relational ruptures as well as develop other skills that promote healthy interpersonal dependency.\n\nREGISTER HERE\n  \n  \n

SUMMARY:Relationships\, Professional Roles\, and Boundaries in the Clinical Setting
DESCRIPTION:Back by overwhelmingly popular demand!\nMeets New Professional Roles & Boundaries CE Requirement! \nRelationships\, Professional Roles\, and Boundaries in the Clinical Setting\nPresented by: Eric Ström\, PhD\, Attorney at Law\, LMHC\nWhen: Friday\, February 26th\, 2027 | 9:30 AM – 12:30 PM\, Pacific Time (the third hour will be Q&A and case discussions)\nWhere: Live on Zoom. You will receive your Zoom link/invitation the week of the workshop.\nContinuing Education Credit Hours: 3 CEs – 2 Professional Relationships and Boundaries CEs and 1 Law & Ethics CE | $109.00\nContinuing Education Workshop Description:\nBoundary violations are among the most common reasons for professional discipline of behavioral health clinicians. Dual relationships—both intentional and unintentional—can take many forms and often pose ethical\, clinical\, and legal challenges. \nIn recognition of this significant cause of misconduct\, as of October 2025\, the Washington Department of Health has implemented a new requirement for two hours of continuing education in “Professional Roles and Boundaries” every two years (the new Washington State continuing education requirements\, according to WAC 246-809-630\, can be found here). \nIn this continuing education workshop\, we will examine Washington State laws and professional ethical standards regarding personal and dual relationships with clients. Drawing from recent Washington Department of Health disciplinary decisions\, participants will engage with real-world case studies that illustrate common risk areas. The workshop will also offer practical strategies for establishing and maintaining appropriate clinical boundaries in everyday practice. \nThis course is designed to meet the Washington State Department of Health’s continuing education requirement for Professional Roles and Boundaries\, per WAC 246-809-630. \nThe third “bonus” hour will be a question-and-answer session with Eric and will include discussions of complex ethical cases involving professional roles and boundaries. \nContinuing Education Workshop Objectives:\nBy the end of this workshop\, participants will be able to: \n\nImplement strategies to maximize clinical effectiveness while minimizing liability risk;\nApply Washington legal guidelines regarding dual relationships;\nApply ethical standards concerning personal relationships with clients;\nIdentify and describe various types of inconsistent dual relationships;\nRecognize risk factors that may contribute to boundary crossings or violations; and\nCreate and evaluate strategies to maintain appropriate and ethical clinical relationships.\n\nREGISTER HERE\n  \n  \n
