SUMMARY:Death Planning and Acceptance: Breaking Down Stigma and Fear with Clients
DESCRIPTION:Law & Ethics\, Health Equity\, and Cultural Competence CEs!\nDeath Planning and Acceptance: Breaking Down Stigma and Fear with Clients\nPresented by: Kylani St. Clair\, LMHC\, CCTP\, RYT\nWhen: Friday\, September 11\, 2026 | 9:00 am – 4:30 pm Pacific Time\nWhere: Live on Zoom. You will receive your Zoom link/invitation the week of the workshop.\nContinuing Education Credit Hours (NBCC and NASW-WA Approved): 6 CEs -2 count as Law & Ethics and 2 count as Health Equity or Cultural Competence | $190.00\nContinuing Education Workshop Description:\nWhen a client says “The thought of my family dying keeps me up at night\,” or “I’m terrified of death\,” a clinician tends to have their own moment of fear or hesitation. Sometimes we don’t know how to respond\, what we’re “allowed” to say\, what we can offer without activating our own countertransference\, or we’re afraid to broach the cultural/religious beliefs. As a society\, we used to be more comfortable with death\, literally and figuratively. Not long ago\, we were planning for the inevitable much earlier in life. We even displayed the deceased in our living rooms for mourners to visit- sometimes for a week or more! The U.S. has especially stigmatized death and it’s palpable in our sessions. That existential dread and anxiety that sometimes leads to panic attacks and depressive episodes often has death at the core. \nFurther\, grief and loss are often compounded when we don’t know what the deceased person wanted\, how to pay for after-death services\, and contacting the people who need to be informed. For example\, do you know if your partner wants to be cremated or buried? Is it important to you to be buried in another state? If so\, do you know what the protocols are for being transported across state lines? Do you have enough money to pay for what the service the deceased wanted? If we don’t have these conversations in our personal lives\, how can we hold space for them with our clients? \nIn this continuing education workshop\, we will break down some of the barriers to discussing death. We will learn about the process of dying\, identify laws and regulations to navigate options\, and de-stigmatize death. We’ll navigate the how\, what\, when\, and why of these conversation in session and how to continue the conversations at home. Throughout this process\, you will ease your own countertransference about death\, making death planning and acceptance with clients more meaningful. \nContinuing Education Workshop Objectives: \n\nReduce existential dread and anxiety regarding death.\nReduce levels of depression seated in despair about death.\nNavigate clinical history at a multicultural level\, providing both clients and clinicians with options for how to handle their own death\, burial\, funeral\, etc.\n Share artifacts and resources for various death professionals.\nApply cultural\, religious\, and familial traditions.\n Identify differences between tradition types. Explore learner’s experiences. Identify any countertransference and how to hold space for it during session. Practice self-disclosure.\nRevisit Kubler-Ross’ stages of grief and introduce David Kessler’s Needs of the Dying affirmations.\nDiscuss pre-grieving\, second-grieving\, disenfranchised grief\, and normalize the process of grief.\nImprove client advocacy via communication and understanding rights.\nPractice communication around goals\, desires\, needs for end-of-life care\, including\, but not limited to\, funeral and burial details.\nModel the practice self-advocacy via the “Caregiver’s Bill of Rights\,” including gaining a thorough understanding of laws and regulations around death and dying.\nNavigate grief and loss\n\nREGISTER HERE\n  \n  \n

SUMMARY:🆕BRAND-NEW! Beyond Answers: Strengthening Our Client’s Inner Compass through Ancient Runes 🆕
DESCRIPTION:Brand-New!\nLaw & Ethics\, Health Equity\, and Cultural Competence CEs!\nBeyond Answers: Strengthening Our Client’s Inner Compass through Ancient Runes\nPresented by: Kylani St. Clair\, LMHC\, CCTP\, RYT\nWhen: Friday\, October 23rd\, 2026 | 10:00 am – 1:00 pm Pacific Time\nWhere: Live on Zoom. You will receive your Zoom link/invitation the week of the workshop.\nContinuing Education Credit Hours (NBCC and NASW-WA Approved): 3 CEs -counts as Law & Ethics\, Health Equity\, or Cultural Competence | $99.00\nContinuing Education Workshop Description:\nAmbivalence and uncertainty are common sources of distress for many clients\, who often look to therapists for answers\, reassurance\, and confirmation that they are making the “right” decision. Although psychotherapy cannot eliminate life’s ambiguities\, it can help clients cultivate something even more enduring: an inner compass rooted in self-trust\, personal values\, and meaningful reflection. \nThis experiential continuing education workshop introduces clinicians to the Elder Futhark rune system as an ancient symbolic framework for facilitating deeper therapeutic reflection and meaningful dialogue. Rather than using runes for prediction or divination\, participants will learn to incorporate their symbolism into psychotherapy as a client-centered tool for cultivating intuition\, exploring values\, constructing meaning\, and strengthening clients’ capacity to navigate uncertainty. Throughout the training\, runes are presented as one historical symbolic tradition that can support reflection\, not as a system of universal truth or prescribed belief. \nParticipants will experience the same reflective exercises they may later facilitate with clients\, gaining firsthand insight into the therapeutic process before integrating these interventions into clinical practice. Clinicians will learn practical strategies for incorporating rune symbolism into treatment while maintaining ethical practice\, cultural humility\, and respect for each client’s worldview. \nParticipants will leave with practical interventions they can adapt to a variety of clinical populations\, along with a deeper understanding of how symbolic facilitation can foster self-discovery\, meaning-making\, and confidence in the face of life’s uncertainties. The foundations of Jungian psychotherapy were built with instruments like mythology\, dreams\, archetypal symbols\, and ancient hieroglyphs. Jung regarded runes as a vital tool in “shaping one’s identity and life’s narrative\,” with a unique ability to connect our unconscious with our conscious (Samuels\, 1986; Stein\, 2021). \nRather than helping clients search for certainty\, clinicians will learn to foster greater self-trust\, reflection\, and confidence in navigating life’s inevitable ambiguities—empowering clients to access the wisdom they already possess. Jung highlighted the therapist’s role in psychotherapy as supporting patients in their own journey of “seeking deeper self=understanding” rather than providing simplistic yes-or-no answers. \nContinuing Education Workshop Objectives\n\nDescribe the historical origins\, cultural context\, and traditional use of the Elder Futhark rune system.\nDifferentiate the therapeutic use of runes from divination practices while maintaining appropriate ethical boundaries and scope of practice.\nExplain how rune symbolism can facilitate intuition\, values exploration\, meaning-making\, and clients’ ability to navigate uncertainty.\nObserve therapeutic techniques for incorporating runes into psychotherapy to facilitate reflection\, insight\, and meaningful dialogue.\nApply ethical principles\, cultural humility\, and health equity considerations when introducing rune-based interventions.\nDevelop practical strategies for incorporating rune-based interventions into treatment while honoring client autonomy\, informed consent\, and individual worldviews.\n\nREGISTER HERE\n  \n

SUMMARY:Reaching the Inner Child: Using Brain-based Internal Family Systems Therapy to Treat Trauma and Personality Disorders
DESCRIPTION:Reaching the Inner Child: Using Integrated\, Brain-based Internal Family Systems Therapy to Treat Trauma and Personality Disorders\nPresented by: Hannah Smith\, MA\, LMHC\, CGP\nWhen: Thursday\, November 5th\, 2026 | 9:00 AM to 4:30 PM\n\nWhere: Live on Zoom. You will receive your Zoom link/invitation the week of the workshop.\nContinuing Education Credit Hours (NBCC and NASW-WA Approved): 6 CEs | $190.00 \nContinuing Education Workshop Description:\nModern neuroscience has provided us with valuable and targeted information to help in understanding and healing the traumatized brain\, including those with severe developmental trauma who later end up with “personality disorder” diagnoses. \nUnfortunately\, much of this valuable information remains abstract and out of reach to those doing the actual work of trauma treatment. \nThis workshop will address these issues by combining insights from neuroscience with an evidence-based treatment approach known as Internal Family Systems. \nInternal Family Systems is a treatment modality created in the 1980s by Dr. Richard C. Schwartz. Trained as a couples and family therapist\, Dr. Schwartz realized the same dynamics he found in family systems also presented within individuals. His work reveals the brain’s natural ability to create different parts\, known as Managers\, Firefighters\, and Exiles\, to protect the core\, undamaged self. His theory is non-pathologizing\, allowing us to see “diagnoses” as “strategies” and recognizing the protective nature of the “Internal Family.” Using modern brain science and these well-established concepts\, we can isolate and treat the “Inner Child” – those parts that carry traumatic memory – more effectively. \nIn this dynamic\, experiential session\, you will learn the underlying framework of Internal Family Systems from both traditional and neuroscience-informed perspectives\, allowing for greater understanding of yourself and your client and providing higher precision in therapeutic work. By applying narrative and imagery-based techniques in real time\, you will incorporate what is known about brain processing into your work\, enabling you to reach “the Inner Child” more efficiently and safely. Attendees will grow in their practical understanding and application of neuroscience to help reduce shame\, increase client engagement\, improve outcomes\, and – as an added bonus – reduce clinician burnout! \nCONTINUING EDUCATION WORKSHOP OBJECTIVES: \n• Consider Internal Family Systems (IFS) structure and techniques from both traditional and neuroscience-informed perspectives\n• Apply a non-pathologizing treatment model to reduce shame and increase client ability to grow and change.\n• Use “Externalization of Parts” and other somatic\, imagery- and analogy-based techniques to develop the concept of the “Inner Child” to promote experiences that create new neural connections that lead to lasting change and healing\n• Learn techniques to teach internal communication and self-compassion and define and measure success in more effective ways\n• Communicate modern neuroscience principles of neuroplasticity\, mentalization\, and somatic responding as they relate to IFS and the “Inner Child” in a user-friendly manner\n• Apply newly learned skills in real-time to build competency and confidence as a practitioner \nREGISTER HERE\n  \n  \n

SUMMARY:National Polarization: Effects on Child Welfare and Adoption Practice
DESCRIPTION:Law & Ethics\, Health Equity\, or Cultural Competence CEs!\nNational Polarization: Effects on Child Welfare and Adoption Practice\nPresented by: Deborah Gray\, MPA\, LICSW and Angela Tucker\nWhen: Thursday\, November 19\, 2026 | 9:00 AM – 4:30 PM\, Pacific Time\nWhere: Live\, In-Person event at Shoreline Center\nContinuing Education Credit Hours (NBCC and NASW-WA Approved): 6 Law & Ethics\, Health Equity\, or Cultural Competence CEs | $229.00\nContinuing Education Workshop Description\n“Woke.” “White Christian Nationalism.” “Racism.” \nThese ideas are impacting foster care\, adoption\, and child and family therapy practices. How do we provide ethical\, empathic\, client-centered care while also acknowledging systemic inequities\, the developmental consequences of early trauma\, and our broader social responsibility? \nThis six-hour continuing education workshop invites participants to wrestle with these questions. Co-taught by Angela Tucker and Deborah Gray\, the workshop explores the complex intersections of foster care placement\, adoptee identity\, transracial adoption\, race\, attachment\, grief\, trauma\, and belonging. \nParticipants will examine how adoption shapes identity across the lifespan through the Adoptee Consciousness Model\, while also exploring racial identity development\, code-switching\, the historical and contemporary influence of White Christian Nationalism on child welfare\, and the ethical challenges facing today’s therapists and social workers. \nTogether\, participants will consider the developmental impacts of neglect\, attachment disruption\, and early trauma alongside current child welfare policies\, asking difficult questions about justice\, equity\, and best practice. \nThe workshop challenges professionals to recognize overt and implicit discrimination\, thoughtfully navigate differences in political and religious worldviews\, and strengthen their abilities to provide culturally responsive care to adoptees and families who have been involved in child welfare. \nUsing a combination of presentation\, facilitated discussion\, video analysis\, self-reflection\, and role-play\, participants will leave with practical tools for working with clients involved in child welfare\, adoptees\, and their families in this sociopolitical climate. \nTherapists and social workers will recognize and counter their countertransference issues without derailing the helping relationship. Workshop attendees will develop skills for greater cultural humility\, ethical awareness\, and clinical confidence. \nContinuing Education Workshop Objectives\nBy the end of this workshop\, participants will be able to: \n\nAnalyze the unique identity challenges experienced by transracial foster children and adoptees\, including racial identity development\, code-switching\, belonging\, and navigating multiple cultural worlds.\nSummarize the historical and contemporary influence of race\, White Christian Nationalism\, and systemic power on child welfare and adoption practices in the United States.\nIdentify the effects of “color-blind” parenting on attachment when children of color are raised in white families. Describe strategies that promote secure parent-child attachment through caregiver education and increased racial awareness.\nDemonstrate adoptee-centered communication strategies that promote identity exploration\, validate lived experience\, and support healthy racial and adoptee identity development.\nIdentify four developmental impacts of early neglect and trauma exposure and explain how these experiences influence children’s emotional\, relational\, and neurological development.\nApply appropriate boundaries around self-disclosure when working with families whose political or religious beliefs differ from their own\, while avoiding false consensus in helping relationships.\nRecognize signs of countertransference\, identify situations in which it may interfere with effective practice\, and describe strategies for maintaining regulation and therapeutic effectiveness.\n\nREGISTER HERE\n  \n
