SUMMARY:A Lifetime of Loss: Integrating Heartache and Grief in Adult & Pediatric Clients
DESCRIPTION:A Lifetime of Loss: Integrating Heartache and Grief in Adult & Pediatric Clients\nPresented by: Kristie Baber\, MSW\, LICSW\, CCTP\nWhen: Thursday\, October 8th\, 2026 | 9:00 am – 4:30 pm Pacific Time\nWhere: Live on Zoom. You will receive your Zoom link/invitation the week of the event.\nContinuing Education Credit Hours (NBCC and NASW-WA Approved): 6 CEs | $190.00 \nFrom floating goldfish to the truncated relationships of divorce and foster care\, losses start early for us. This continuing education workshop will explore the universal experience of grief – the process that attempts to recover meaning following a loss (Brown\, 2021) – and the myriad ways in which it can go awry. \nThe wounds of childhood compound as we age and inevitably experience further losses\, each echoing the initial pain. In a realistic and lighthearted way\, we will address the reality of impermanence and our lifelong effort to adjust. From treating acute grief in childhood to the manifestation of unresolved loss in our adult clients\, this class will explore the ways therapists can help integrate the hurts of a lifetime. \nThis class is designed for practicing therapists with clients of all ages. The workshop will be conducted in a Zoom format\, and teaching modalities will include a mix of clinical discussion\, lecture with clinical examples & video illustrations\, as well as individual/group case exercises. \nWORKSHOP OBJECTIVES:\n\nHonoring the complexity of human relationships and experiences\, recognize that death is only one manifestation of the loss people endure.\nUnderstand the neuropsychological basis for traumatic loss experiences in childhood persisting throughout the lifespan into adulthood and affecting our clients long after the event occurred.\nIdentify prolonged grief disorder (a.k.a. complicated grief or traumatic grief) as well as symbolic loss\, disenfranchised grief\, and ambiguous loss.\nRecognize how children’s\, tweens’ & teens’ understanding of death and reaction to loss differs from the presentation of adults; as well as interpret behavioral patterns at different developmental stages.\nImplement therapeutic interventions for adults\, including Worden’s TEAR model and Shear’s HEALING milestones.\nEstablish a treatment plan for clients experiencing grief & loss and explore developmentally appropriate therapeutic tools and activities.\nAccess provided references and resources for further study.\n\nREGISTER HERE\n  \n  \n

SUMMARY:Professional Wills: Why You Need One and How to Create It
DESCRIPTION:Law & Ethics CEs!\nProfessional Wills: Why You Need One and How to Create It\nPresented by: Sandy Voit MS\, EdS\, LMHC\, CDFA\nWhen: Thursday\, October 15\, 2026\, 2025 | 10:00 am – 12:00 pm Pacific Time\nWhere: Live on Zoom. You will receive your Zoom link/invitation the week of the workshop.\nContinuing Education Credits: CEs: 2 Law & Ethics CEs | $65.00\nARE YOU IN BREACH OF YOUR PROFESSIONAL ETHICS?\nYou have spent your entire professional career securing and storing medical records and ensuring your clients’ confidentiality. What happens to these records when you retire\, become disabled\, or die? \nDid you know that even if you die\, your estate could be held responsible for malpractice complaints and legal actions brought about by your failure to anticipate your demise? \nFor psychologists\, your Code of Ethics dictates that you are expected to “make reasonable efforts to plan for facilitating services in the event that psychological services are interrupted by factors such as the psychologist’s illness\, death\, unavailability\, relocation\, or retirement…” The same ethical mandate applies to Mental Health Counselors\, Marriage and Family Therapists\, and Social Workers. \nThis workshop provides information and examples of how to prepare for such a situation – creating a Professional Will and identifying a Professional Executor to handle the legal and ethical details necessary to protect yourself and your practice. If something happens to you\, you need a similarly licensed professional (not your spouse or child) to deal with your clients/patients\, confidential records\, office leases\, obtain releases\, make referrals\, etc. In addition\, your clients/patients will likely need help in their grieving and necessary transition to another therapist. \nREGISTER HERE\n  \n
