Through case studies\, video demonstrations\, and reflective questions\, the course explores evidence-based assessment tools\, including the DSM-5 Level of Personality Functioning Scale\, and examines key treatment approaches such as DBT\, CBT\, and schema therapy. \nThe workshop also highlights cultural considerations and the importance of therapeutic boundaries\, transference\, and countertransference when working with this population. While often invisible or normalized within families\, this role reversal can shape identity\, attachment patterns\, boundaries\, and self-worth well into adulthood. \nThis continuing education workshop introduces clinicians to the concept of parentification from developmental\, relational\, and trauma-informed perspectives\, exploring both instrumental parentification (taking on adult tasks) and emotional parentification (serving as a confidant\, mediator\, or regulator for caregivers). \nParticipants will examine the long-term psychological impacts of these early role reversals\, including links to anxiety\, depression\, relational over-functioning\, and identity diffusion.
