SUMMARY:Tarot and Therapy: Intuition and Metaphor
DESCRIPTION:Law & Ethics CEs!\nTarot and Therapy: Intuition and Metaphor\nPresented by: Rebecca Bloom\, ATR-BC\, LMHC (she/her)\nWhen: Friday\, December 4\, 2026 | 9:00 am – 4:30 pm Pacific Time\nWhere: Live on Zoom. You will receive your Zoom link/invitation the week of the workshop.\nContinuing Education Credits: CEs: 6 CEs – 3 Law & Ethics CEs | $199.00\, which includes $174.00 tuition plus $25.00 for Ephemera Art Supply Packs Created by Rebecca Bloom Especially for Cascadia Training Registrants. Art supply packs will be mailed to registrants in advance of the workshop.\nWhy is Tarot so popular right now? Are your clients coming in talking about the card they pulled before the session and you have no idea what that means? Have you used tarot for years for your own well being and would love to use it with mental health clients but not sure how? \nMost clients come into therapy saying that they do not have access to their intuition and are not sure how to trust what the right choices are to make in their lives. Using a single card pulled from a tarot deck\, and exploring the client’s meaning of the card\, clients can begin to feel connected to their own sense of self\, clients can find new ways to safely explore difficult experiences and find ways to test out feeling grounded again. \nStarting with the Jungian concepts of Archetypes we will look at how the collective sense of self represents over these twelve types of being.  Then we will explore the history and uses of tarot. These seventy-eight cards have been used for hundreds of years. Using the Rider-Waite-Smith deck\, from 1909\, as a starting place we will look at many of the decks available today and why people turn to them every day or when times get difficult. \nWe will explore intuition and how to trust our own sense of knowing. In this hands-on workshop\, you will make five of your own cards.  Exploring the major arcana\, and the suits of cups\, pentacles\, swords and wands we will learn the journeys of each of these sets. \nObjectives:\n\nLearn archetypes of Jung and Tarot.\nLearn why the creative process soothes the body and the mind.\nFind materials you will be comfortable using with your clients.\nUse art making for your own self-care.\n\nREGISTER HERE\n  \n

SUMMARY:Motivating Clients from Indecision to Action
DESCRIPTION:Motivating Clients from Indecision to Action\nPresented by: Randi Jensen\, MA\, LMHC\, CCDC\nWhen: Thursday\, December 10th\, 2026 | 9:00 am – 4:30 pm Pacific Time\nWhere: Live on Zoom. You will receive your Zoom link/invitation the week of the workshop.\nContinuing Education Credit Hours (NBCC and NASW-WA Approved): 6 CEs | $190.00 Now Only $140.00!\nMotivational Interviewing (MI) is an established evidence-based practice renowned for resolving ambivalence. MI\, which originates in substance use disorder treatment\, has been shown to enhance client motivation for change and improve treatment outcomes.  The spirit of MI complements Self-Determination Theory (SDI)\, which asserts that people have an intrinsic desire to make life changes congruent with their core values. SDI states that people are more likely to be internally motivated if their actions\, beliefs\, and core values align.  Motivational Interviewing provides the technique to make that happen. The principles of Motivational Interviewing include providing accurate empathy\, building discrepancy\, rolling with resistance\, and increasing self-efficacy. These supply the basis for building intrinsic motivation for change and can facilitate the resolution of life-threatening ambivalence in suicidality. Researchers Britton\, Williams\, and Connor (2008) show how the therapist’s proficiency in Motivational Interviewing can resolve a client’s ambivalence and resistance to change. This very practical workshop includes learning through lectures\, interactive discussions\, demonstrations\, video role plays\, and skill-building through group exercises. These methods combine to provide techniques and interventions that can be applied immediately. \nObjectives:\n• Describe the principles that underpin Motivational Interviewing and how they promote client autonomy • Articulate the distinguishing techniques of open-ended questions\, affirmations\, reflective listening\, and summarizations • Explain the Stages of Change as described by Prochaska and DiClemente (1983) • Discuss the significance of Self-Determination Theory in coordination with MI • Distinguish different methods of using MI with specific populations and varied disorders • Express and practice Motivational Interviewing techniques used in counseling suicidal individuals • Describe ethical considerations and documentation • Enumerate necessary therapist qualities that support the efficient use of MI Randi is an expert in both using and teaching Motivational Interviewing. In addition to her many years of presenting Cascadia Training workshops\, she taught Motivational Interviewing courses as an adjunct faculty member at Bastyr University and as Case Management Program Director for Antioch University and Seattle’s Job Initiative. She also uses her expert-level skills in Motivational Interviewing in her private practice\, specializing in treating clients with suicidality\, suicide ideation\, substance use disorders\, and more. SUMMARY:Best Practices for Serving Gender-Diverse Clients
DESCRIPTION:Health Equity or Cultural Competence CEs!\nBest Practices for Serving Gender-Diverse Clients\nPresented by: Dreya Blume\, LCSW\nWhen: Friday\, December 11th\, 2026 | 9:00 am – 4:30 pm Pacific Time\nWhere: Live on Zoom. You will receive your Zoom link/invitation the week of the workshop.\nContinuing Education Credit Hours (NBCC and NASW-WA Approved): 6 CEs Meets Criteria for Health Equity or Cultural Competence CEs | $199.00\nContinuing Education Workshop Description:\nWhether they are transgender\, non-binary\, two-spirit\, gender fluid\, or agender\, those in our gender-diverse communities need clinicians who understand the issues they are facing\, as well as how to best meet their needs. \nDreya\, a transgender woman\, has been a gender therapist since 2004 and is thrilled to share her knowledge with you during this dynamic and engaging continuing education workshop. \nWe will review gender-affirming terminology and explore the wide variety of identities within the gender-diverse community. You will learn how to provide gender-affirming care for clients of different ages (children\, teens\, and adults)\, starting with what to include on intake forms and how to create a welcoming office atmosphere. \nYou will also become familiar with themes that typically arise in session\, such as coming out to oneself\, family\, friends\, and coworkers; navigating social and medical transition; managing stress\, microaggressions\, discrimination\, and bias; and dealing with grief and loss (both on the part of the client as well as family members); common mental health issues associated with gender diversity\, such as depression\, anxiety\, suicidality\, PTSD\, and eating disorders; intersectionality; the gatekeeping dilemma; and more. \nDreya will also discuss how to write referral letters for clients (both adults and minors) seeking gender-affirming medical care. We will explore the criteria for “gender dysphoria\,” the role of WPATH (World Professional Association for Transgender Health) guidelines in the letter-writing process\, and how to conduct a “gender consultation” for this purpose. \nFinally\, we will examine client transference and clinician countertransference\, as each can impact the therapeutic relationship. The good news is that by exploring gender diversity and the challenges faced by gender-nonconforming individuals more deeply\, clinicians can make a meaningful difference in the lives of their clients and families. \nContinuing Education Workshop Objectives:\n\nIdentify a wide range of identities among people who are gender-nonconforming.\nLearn the micro and macro challenges that impact the mental health of gender-nonconforming individuals.\nBecome familiar with how to best provide affirming care to gender-diverse individuals.\nDiscuss how to conduct a gender consultation for the purpose of writing a referral letter for gender-affirming medical care.\nUnderstand the transition timeline of a person navigating their gender journey.\nExplore how to best support the families of gender-diverse individuals.\nBecome familiar with local and national resources for gender-diverse individuals.\n\nREGISTER HERE \n  \n  \n

DESCRIPTION:🆕Brand-New!🆕\nParentification\nPresented by: Dreya Blume\, LCSW\nWhen: Monday\, December 14th\, 2026 | 9:00 am – 12:00 pm Pacific Time\nWhere: Live on Zoom. You will receive your Zoom link/invitation the week of the workshop.\nContinuing Education Credit Hours (NBCC and NASW-WA Approved): 3 CEs | $90.00\nContinuing Education Workshop Description:\nParentification is a relational dynamic in which a child is placed into developmentally inappropriate roles of emotional or practical caregiving within the family system. While often invisible or normalized within families\, this role reversal can shape identity\, attachment patterns\, boundaries\, and self-worth well into adulthood. \nThis continuing education workshop introduces clinicians to the concept of parentification from developmental\, relational\, and trauma-informed perspectives\, exploring both instrumental parentification (taking on adult tasks) and emotional parentification (serving as a confidant\, mediator\, or regulator for caregivers). \nParticipants will examine the long-term psychological impacts of these early role reversals\, including links to anxiety\, depression\, relational over-functioning\, and identity diffusion. Clinicians will learn practical therapeutic strategies for helping clients identify internalized responsibility patterns\, develop healthier boundaries\, grieve unmet childhood needs\, and cultivate a more balanced sense of self. \nThrough case examples\, reflective exercises\, and clinical discussion\, participants will gain tools to recognize parentification dynamics in therapy and support clients in reclaiming autonomy\, self-compassion\, and relational flexibility. \nContinuing Education Workshop Objectives:\n\nDefine parentification and distinguish between instrumental and emotional forms of role reversal within family systems.\nIdentify common psychological and relational impacts of childhood parentification\, including patterns related to boundaries\, responsibility\, attachment\, and identity development.\nAssess for signs of parentification in clinical practice\, including common presenting concerns and therapeutic themes associated with this developmental experience.\nApply trauma-informed therapeutic strategies to help clients process parentification experiences\, establish healthier boundaries\, and develop greater self-compassion and autonomy.\n\nREGISTER HERE \n  \n  \n
