DESCRIPTION:🆕 BRAND-NEW! 🆕\nHealth Equity or Cultural Competence CEs!\nBest Practices for Serving Gender-Diverse Clients\nPresented by: Dreya Blume\, LCSW\nWhen: Friday\, December 11th\, 2026 | 9:00 am – 4:30 pm Pacific Time\nWhere: Live on Zoom. You will receive your Zoom link/invitation the week of the workshop.\nContinuing Education Credit Hours (NBCC and NASW-WA Approved): 6 CEs Meets Criteria for Health Equity or Cultural Competence CEs | $199.00\nContinuing Education Workshop Description:\nWhether they are transgender\, non-binary\, two-spirit\, gender fluid\, or agender\, those in our gender-diverse communities need clinicians who understand the issues they are facing\, as well as how to best meet their needs. \nDreya\, a transgender woman\, has been a gender therapist since 2004 and is thrilled to share her knowledge with you during this dynamic and engaging continuing education workshop. \nWe will review gender-affirming terminology and explore the wide variety of identities within the gender-diverse community. You will learn how to provide gender-affirming care for clients of different ages (children\, teens\, and adults)\, starting with what to include on intake forms and how to create a welcoming office atmosphere. \nYou will also become familiar with themes that typically arise in session\, such as coming out to oneself\, family\, friends\, and coworkers; navigating social and medical transition; managing stress\, microaggressions\, discrimination\, and bias; and dealing with grief and loss (both on the part of the client as well as family members); common mental health issues associated with gender diversity\, such as depression\, anxiety\, suicidality\, PTSD\, and eating disorders; intersectionality; the gatekeeping dilemma; and more. \nDreya will also discuss how to write referral letters for clients (both adults and minors) seeking gender-affirming medical care. We will explore the criteria for “gender dysphoria\,” the role of WPATH (World Professional Association for Transgender Health) guidelines in the letter-writing process\, and how to conduct a “gender consultation” for this purpose. \nFinally\, we will examine client transference and clinician countertransference\, as each can impact the therapeutic relationship. The good news is that by exploring gender diversity and the challenges faced by gender-nonconforming individuals more deeply\, clinicians can make a meaningful difference in the lives of their clients and families. \nContinuing Education Workshop Objectives:\n\nIdentify a wide range of identities among people who are gender-nonconforming.\nLearn the micro and macro challenges that impact the mental health of gender-nonconforming individuals.\nBecome familiar with how to best provide affirming care to gender-diverse individuals.\nDiscuss how to conduct a gender consultation for the purpose of writing a referral letter for gender-affirming medical care.\nUnderstand the transition timeline of a person navigating their gender journey.\nExplore how to best support the families of gender-diverse individuals.\nBecome familiar with local and national resources for gender-diverse individuals.\n\nREGISTER HERE\n  \n  \n

SUMMARY:🆕BRAND-NEW! Parentification 🆕
DESCRIPTION:🆕Brand-New!🆕\nParentification\nPresented by: Dreya Blume\, LCSW\nWhen: Monday\, December 14th\, 2026 | 9:00 am – 12:00 pm Pacific Time\nWhere: Live on Zoom. You will receive your Zoom link/invitation the week of the workshop.\nContinuing Education Credit Hours (NBCC and NASW-WA Approved): 3 CEs | $90.00\nContinuing Education Workshop Description:\nParentification is a relational dynamic in which a child is placed into developmentally inappropriate roles of emotional or practical caregiving within the family system. While often invisible or normalized within families\, this role reversal can shape identity\, attachment patterns\, boundaries\, and self-worth well into adulthood. \nThis continuing education workshop introduces clinicians to the concept of parentification from developmental\, relational\, and trauma-informed perspectives\, exploring both instrumental parentification (taking on adult tasks) and emotional parentification (serving as a confidant\, mediator\, or regulator for caregivers). \nParticipants will examine the long-term psychological impacts of these early role reversals\, including links to anxiety\, depression\, relational over-functioning\, and identity diffusion. Clinicians will learn practical therapeutic strategies for helping clients identify internalized responsibility patterns\, develop healthier boundaries\, grieve unmet childhood needs\, and cultivate a more balanced sense of self. \nThrough case examples\, reflective exercises\, and clinical discussion\, participants will gain tools to recognize parentification dynamics in therapy and support clients in reclaiming autonomy\, self-compassion\, and relational flexibility. \nContinuing Education Workshop Objectives:\n\nDefine parentification and distinguish between instrumental and emotional forms of role reversal within family systems.\nIdentify common psychological and relational impacts of childhood parentification\, including patterns related to boundaries\, responsibility\, attachment\, and identity development.\nAssess for signs of parentification in clinical practice\, including common presenting concerns and therapeutic themes associated with this developmental experience.\nApply trauma-informed therapeutic strategies to help clients process parentification experiences\, establish healthier boundaries\, and develop greater self-compassion and autonomy.\n\nREGISTER HERE\n  \n  \n

SUMMARY:Youth and Adult Suicide: Recognition\, Assessment\, and Treatment of Suicidality
DESCRIPTION:Washington State-approved 6-hour suicide assessment training – this workshop meets the suicide assessment requirements of Washington State’s Department of Health. \nYouth and Adult Suicide: Recognition\, Assessment\, and Treatment of Suicidality\nPresented by: Randi Jensen\, MA\, LMHC\, CCDC\nWhen: Friday\, January 15th\, 2027 | 9:00 am – 4:30 pm Pacific Time\nWhere: Live on Zoom. You will receive your Zoom link/invitation the week of the workshop.\nContinuing Education Credit Hours: 6 CEs | $199.00\nWhere can Washington State mental health professionals take an affordable\, Department of Health-approved\, 6-hour suicide assessment\, management\, and treatment workshop online for license renewal? You’ve found it – right here at Cascadia Training\, live on Zoom!\nThis workshop meets the Washington State suicide assessment requirements for re-licensure. The Washington State Department of Health has approved this 6-hour workshop for its Model List. This workshop also satisfies the continuing education requirements set by the Department of Health related to suicide assessment\, management\, and treatment.\nContinuing Education Workshop Description: Suicide recognition\, assessment\, and treatment continuing education workshop for therapists and social workers\nHistorically\, mental health treatment for suicidal individuals has involved extensive psychopharmacology\, repeated cognitive behavioral therapy\, positive psychology methods\, stress reduction exercises\, and/or deep therapy into family-of-origin issues\, all proven individually insufficient for the long-term prevention of suicide and suicidality. \nThe World Health Organization (2019) reported decreasing trends in suicide mortality in most countries across the world. Unfortunately\, the mortality of suicide showed an increasing trend in the United States. Between 2000 and 2018\, the suicide rate skyrocketed\, increasing by a whopping 35% (CDC\, 2020). Interestingly\, during the first year of the COVID-19 pandemic\, between 2020 and 2021\, there was a decrease in suicide rates. This was short-lived\, unfortunately\, as suicide rates began to increase again by 2% in 2022 (CDC\, 2022). \nWhat can we do? As clinicians\, we need to understand there are many roads to suicidality — each usually requiring individual intervention. \nThis workshop presents original concepts on suicidality as an ingenious coping mechanism that develops over time. The brain’s neuroplasticity forms neural pathways that underpin the reinforcing suicidal thought pattern. Brain retraining provides the formation of new healthy neural pathways. The healing process is directed\, encouraged\, and supported through a specifically designed peer protocol grounded in evidence-based social support. \nResearch shows that the first suicide attempt is often the first time anyone intervenes. However\, it is generally not the first time the danger has been known. Loved ones just don’t know what to do. They take the suicidal individual to a hospital or professional where the treatment protocol has not changed for decades. When the suicidal individual comes home after the attempt\, family and friends don’t know how to help prevent the next one. The Jensen Suicide Peer Protocol (JSP3)\, based on evidence-based principles\, is a prescribed method for family members and concerned others to take an active part in the recovery of their loved one. Randi has used this method for decades and has saved lives. \nContinuing Education Workshop Objectives:\n• Describe the extent of suicide in the general and special populations\, including children\, adolescents\, and military personnel.\n• Distinguish what suicidality is and the difference between self-harm and suicidality\n• Explain the psychobiology of suicidality and its progression\n• Articulate warning signs and symptoms using simple and effective suicide assessment tools\n• Express and practice Motivational Interviewing techniques used in counseling suicidal individuals\n• Explain a life-saving peer support protocol and how to implement it\n• Describe ethical considerations\, documentation\, and confidentiality issues. \nThe Washington State Department of Health has approved this 6-hour workshop for its Model List. This workshop also satisfies the continuing education requirements set by the Department of Health related to suicide assessment\, management\, and treatment. \nRandi consistently receives excellent evaluations from workshop attendees. Here are just a few quotes from past attendees:\n*  “I took a different class about suicide a few months back. It was so heavy with content and so focused on how to cross every “T” and dot every “I” that I actually left more anxious about treating suicidal clients than before. In contrast\, Randi’s workshop gave me a broader understanding and a way to connect the clinical skills I already have to treating these clients. I feel much more confident and competent working with suicidal clients now.” \n* “Ms. Jensen is an extremely competent clinician and presenter. Over my 30+ career in mental health work\, this is one of the very best workshops I have attended. Thank you\, Cascadia and Randi!”  \n* “This is the most impactful continuing education class I’ve ever taken!” \nREGISTER HERE\n  \n
